Final Post

So this is the last post of the semester. I have to say I really did enjoy this course. I am glad that I was able to take this course in class, instead of doing it through distance.

Since I have already completed my research paper as well as my presentation on the same topic. I failed to complete the required blog entry for this bundle.

The position I took for the research paper and the presentation was that the nature nurture theory was not black and white. It was a very grey topic. A combination of both factors mould and shape us as individuals. Not necessarily one or the other alone. I know that many people would argue that it can only be one of the two. As I demonstrated in my paper that is not the case. Because I chose to use this theory and apply it to serial killers, and as I stated in the paper many people are raised in bad environments but that does not mean that they will turn out to be bad individuals. Granted yes, some people do but not all. Similarly, just because your great great grandfather may have been a violent individual, but you have never met him. And yet your parents were stand up citizens, this does not mean that you will have the same behaviours that your great great grandfather had. But it does happen to some. As you can see, its definitely various shades of grey. Anyone can argue either side, but I choose to argue both. Sometimes its a combination of things that complete the perfect recipe for a serial killer, sometimes you leave things out and it still happens.

Movie Review

I went to see the movie Pitch Perfect this past weekend. It was a about competitive collegiate acapella singing groups vying for the national title.I was super excited to see this movie (yep, I admit, I am a sucker for a teeny-bopper song/dance movie with an underlying romantic aspect). After losing to an all male group from the same university the year before, it was time to revamp the Aca-bellas. A newcomer to the university by the name of Beca would rather mix music than sing it. But as a condition of her going to Los Angeles funded by her father, she must attend one full year of university and really try to socialize and get unplug the headphones. At orientation at the university she meets the Aca-bella's and eventually is convinced to help sing with them. With a new group of girls, the Aca-bellas emabark on the journey to nationals and in hopes of reclaiming the title that was once owned by them but not before some changes are to take place. I thought it was good, however not as good as I went into the movie hoping it would be. The movie was quite funny at parts, but the "mean girl" character left alot to be desired. The role was overplayed and seemed fake (Yes I am aware, it is just a movie and thus, all is fake) but I felt the "mean girl" was TOO unrealistic and slightly weird at times. The funniest character in the movie is "Fat Amy" as the commercial for the movie shows, she calls herself by this name because she doesn't want other mean girls to call her that behind her back. This is how she is known throughout the entire movie. She is a funny character (even in other movies that she has played in, she plays the comedic relief). I really enjoyed her character. Overall the movie was good, upbeat and fun. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes these types of movies. However, if Glee or High School Musical is not your thing, (although this movie is not AS teeny bopper as those two, it is however a similar style) this is probably not the movie for you.

BLOGPOST#1-REDONE.

Okay. So I know it has been a while since my last post. Let me explain. I could not decide on what to write my final research paper on. I was incorrect in my very first online post about which assignment we were supposed to be discussing. My bad.
You will be happy to know I am sure, that I have finally settled on a topic.Drum roll please.
Nature Vs. Nurture. Everyone everywhere has an opinion on this topic. Even if they do not outwardly express it, or even realize it. Do you feel that someone behaves the way they do because of genetics? That a bad temper is actually contained in our genes? Because our grand father or grand mother had a short temper, automatically means, we possess the gene to be the same way?
Or do you feel that the way we behave is actually the result of our surroundings? My friends are bullies (not literally of course) does that mean that I will follow suit and do the same?
We will wait and see. I am very interested to obtain more information on this topic. I am 100% serious when I say, this is actually a huge debate in my household.

Blog post #1

Since this blog is for our English 1110 course, its about time we get into some work. Starting out with my topic choice for assignment #1. I have chosen the topic of the Alberta Oil Sands and the effects of this project. Now, I am certainly a person who loves the environment dearly, don't get me wrong. But for the purposes of this particular assignment I will be looking more into the positive effects the Alberta Oil Sands Project has on our economy and way of living. We are mostly aware of the negative effects these projects have on our environment. But what he normally fail to acknowledge, is how much of an impact this industry has on our country. I feel it is extremely important to also look at this side of the industry.

As for some of the research sources I will be using for this topic, which will include internet sources, texts, as well as some connections I have within the Oil and Gas industry.

Hello Everyone

Welcome to my blog. I have to admit, I have never had a blog before. So, I guess I will start out by telling you all a little bit about myself.
